My name is Riya Virmani, I am enrolled in business general diploma at Sheridan College. It is my business communication assignment for which I am writing this blog and I have chosen “Social media for business” as my topic. This is the era of science and technology, being a young girl I use so many social networking sites like Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram etc. on which I had seen many people advertising their business.

Here I would like to share my personal experience which changed my thinking about social media:- I love baking a lot, back in India I used to bake cakes at every occasion and one day it was my friend’s 18^th birthday so I planned to give her surprise by baking a cake for her. It was a chocolate lawa cake which she appreciated a lot and shared that

picture of that cake on social media website with other friends. Further she advised me to make it a profession by selling cakes. So I took her advice seriously and I started working on it. I decided to post a picture of my cakes every week on Facebook page with their prices. People who visited my posts started boosting me that you are doing a great job, by the span of time this thing turns into a good business of mine.

I am very glad that with my single post on social media I got so much popularity and fame and I started making money in very young age. That my unforgettable experience for me.
